Donald J Pliner was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois with his twin sister Donna. He, who born with a 'silver shoehorn' in his mouth(Donald) and brother, Elliot, both has worked as apprentices to their father, Leo, at their family owned Pliner's Florsheim Family Shoe Stores. By this way Donald J Pliner has created a passion on this footwear business and strived hard with his father by working as apprentice. This hardwork itself made him to be a owner of leading Footwear stores in a part of the world.
In early 1970's, Donald developed himself to a retail prominent level along with the Right Bank Clothing Co. which is located on Camden Drive in Beverly Hills. The hardworking nature and zeal to satisfy the customers made him rise to this retail level in those days where the fashion is least bothered as of now. Within few years, the retail store started by Donald abruptly became the true source for fashion. People turned more towards him where they got what they want. In 1974, the store has became the Right Bank Shoe Co., which offered its services as the first ever American outlet store for many European designers like Thierry Mugler, Basile,Castelbajac, Maud Frizon, Stephane Kelian, Arche, Bisonte, Trussardi and many more.
At the same era, Donald started his second store, The Right Bank Clothing Co. and Tea Room. It is located on Rodeo Drive.He without sticking his mind into the same footwear line, he made his innovative diversion of his mind by continuing his development of a line of RBCC clothing, shoes and other accessories. This sort of diversion made him to impress more towards his work and has generated most attention, it waranted a wholesale division. This was picked up and represented in specialty and department stores across the country. Meanwhile, the Right Bank Clothing Co. and Tea Room became the place of choice for celebrity meetings. This way the popularity has raised with his innovative thoughts.
After his introduction to Men’s footwear for the first time, he slowly started his interest towards many other items and developed his business. Handbag's introduced as the next developed item, Donald J Pliner Handbags are re-launched with a complete makeover. Two collections of handbags are available, they include the “Couture” line, which is made in Italy, and the “Donald J Pliner” line, which is manufactured in Asia and other parts of the world.
